The disc has a spiral going from the middle to the end, the disc has different layers one which is a layer of bumps. The bumps reflect the light from the laser off in different directions this gives the computer the information the computer reads these as 1's / 0's.

- CD - Music/ software
- DVD - Films/ Games/ Software
- Blu Ray - High definition films
